Strange Specific Phobias
Soo HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Eeek 2016.... 2015 went so fast!! I'm not making any resolutions this year (or if I am I haven't thought of them yet!) so this is just going to be a normal strange random post....
So here goes!!
Recently I was thinking (never ends well) and I realised that although I have some common phobias they're actually quite strange and specific.... Let me explain!
So for example I am terrified of spiders, when I see one it triggers a panic attack (not good) especially when they're moving. Or big. If they're big and moving I have no chance! But the thing is I've realised that although I have a phobia of spiders, what I'm scared of is that they will grow bigger and bigger until they are massive (like Aragog and Shelob size, or bigger) and will eat me and my family... But seeing one triggers a panic attack and I start having visions of them growing bigger.... (Even thinking about it makes me shaky!!) It's my main phobia so tarantulas are my worst enemy because they're so big and hairy and long legs and I need to stop...
Keep looking behind me now thinking there's one behind me...
So yeah, 1) spiders - growing and eating family.
My other fear (not quite a phobia this one but definitely a fear!) is the dark. Yes... I'm 15 and afraid of the dark. I'm not nearly as bad as I used to be, I wouldn't go upstairs if it was dark outside if even one light was off without someone else up there... So going to the loo was put off for hours until someone else walked up the stairs!! Luckily now I am better but still can't walk into a room when it's dark without a torch (My phone flashlight is literally my best friend) but again, it's a bit more complicated. What I'm afraid of is that a skeleton is hiding behind a door with an axe and is going to murder me. Yeah. Also it's only behind doors, I don't care about them hiding anywhere else, and although I believe in ghosts and spirits its only skeletons that scare me when obviously that isn't possible! But still, I'm terrified. (And in my mind they always have an axe. A very sharp axe.)
2) dark - a skeleton behind a door with an axe.
I figured I might as well include this one even though I'm not still afraid of it, but this was a childhood fear of mine! (I outgrew it when I was probably about 7/8 so when I was very young!) So I was scared of the toilet flushing. To be completely honest it still makes me jump if I stand too close! But the thing is I was scared that the flush would summon a crocodile and it would jump out the toilet and eat me... I think this is the weirdest!! To be clear, I don't still this is possible!! But I used to flush the toilet and run as fast as I could downstairs to where people are. Another thing, the crocodile wouldn't eat me if there was someone else there, and goes away as soon as I was with someone. I have NO idea where this fear came from!
3) the toilet flushing makes a crocodile jump out that will chase and eat me.
So yeah I just thought that might be funny to share with you all!! I might regret telling the entire world about my fears later but I was thinking and realised just how weird they are.... is this normal?!?!?!!! Probably not... I think I had an extremely over-active imagination that I scared myself with.... the most likely thing!
Hope you all have a lovely start to 2016 and had an awesome Christmas and New Year!! :D
KellyKat :) x
P.S. Just told my mum about what I'm writing about and she said she remembers when I used to never flush the toilet or on the rare occasion that I did would run away right after!!!!!!
P.P.S. Weird phobias do run in my family. I mean my mum has a phobia of baked beans?!?!!
