Achieving Dreams
I was 6 when the first 'High
School Musical' movie came out, and soon became very obsessed with it. I
remember watching it all the time (literally) and torturing my whole family!
When the second one came out I was just the same, and I went to see the third
one at the cinema twice (the only film I've seen at the cinema twice!). My
parents even took me to see 'High School Musical: On Ice' and I have the
programme to this very day, and it was one of my most prized possessions when I
was younger. We also had the Wii game, 'High School Musical: Sing it'. I spent
my life on that game! It was just amazing for me, and everything I owned was
High School Musical related, my room was just High School Musical! My biggest
dream from the ages of 6 to 9 was to be in High School Musical one day, and when
they did a stage performance of High School Musical, my dream was to be in that
one day, and I spent so much time imagining I was on stage performing it!
However, the High School Musical phase did eventually pass, and I soon forgot
about it, despite spending years devoting my life to High School Musical.
Quite a few months ago I
went to see a youth performance of Grease, as I knew the person playing
'Rizzo', and saw that they were doing open auditions for High School Musical:
On Stage. I enjoyed Grease so much, and thought it'd be amazing to do something
like that one day. I looked at the sign, and I remembered saying that I wanted
to do it one day, something I'd completely forgot about for years. Memories of
High School Musical came flooding back, and I decided to take a flyer for the
auditions, just in case I decided to try it.
I thought about it for a
long time, and eventually decided to go. I wasn't auditioning to get it, I was
interested at what happened at auditions like that, as I'd never done anything
like that before. and plus, it might be the only chance I'd ever get to achieve
my 'childhood dream', so I couldn't just not go! However, the only problem was
that because my memory is so terrible, I couldn't even remember what happens in
the movie 'High School Musical'. (disgraceful I know!) Well, I could remember
the names of Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Taylor, Chad and Kelsi and some of
the actors (Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale!) but not the
storyline or anything. Luckily I managed to get hold of the movies and
refreshed my memory in time, or I would have gone there not knowing a thing!!
I went along to the
auditions, curious to see how they worked. We were taught 'We're all in this
together' and had to sing a few lines solo. Then we were taught the dance and
had to do that in small groups a few times. Then we went upstairs and read from
a script, and all through this there were scary people writing notes! I enjoyed
the auditions so much though, and I didn't even care if I got in or not!
None of my friends knew I'd
auditions, as I was a little afraid to tell everyone as I didn't know what
they'd say. However, when I got the call from my mum saying I'd got in I had no
choice! I was so shocked, I really wasn't expecting to get in at all! My
friends were very shocked too, as they didn't even know I'd auditioned!
10 weeks later and I've done
it! I was in two out of the four shows, in the chorus/ensemble/background
peoples! It was an experience I'll never forget, and I am so grateful for every second of it. I cannot
believe it happened, and I have managed to do the one thing I always dreamt of.
I have met some really good friends there, who I'll never forget and I hope we
can stay close friends, as they mean so much to me despite having only known
them about 10 weeks! My whole family and all my friends have been so supportive
(THANK YOU!!!!) and it's been a dream come true, I'll never EVER forget this!

This has taught me that no
matter how big the dream is it's always achievable, and if it's meant to be the
chance will come. There's not a star in heaven that you can't reach!! (haha
cheesy quote there)
